The Breakaway Round
Rule: Breakaway rounds are acceptable as long as intentions are clearly stated.
A 'breakaway' round is where two or more people from one round start their own, separate round. Potential reasons for a breakaway round include a lack of consensus regarding a switch to wine (see Wine by the Bottle), two or more people switching to cocktails (see Cost Variance) or a discrepancy in rate of drinking (see The Wedge).
